The Speed Demon Xt FAQ

For more information and videos, go to www.speedbagdisplay.com.

1. What is the Speed Demon Xt?

The Speed Demon Xt is a speed bag display device that tracks the movement of your speed bag. It can tell you how fast you are punching the bag (in punches per minute), the number of punches you've thrown, or even help train you.

2. Does it interfere with my speed bag?

No. The Speed Demon Xt uses infrared light beams to track your bag.  It uses a special calibration tape that applies to the neck of your speed bag to monitor the bags movement.

3. How big is it?

It is about seven and a half inches in diameter, and a little more than one-half inch thick.

4. Will it work with my speed bag platform and swivel?

The Speed Demon Xt mounts easily onto any wooden platform using three small screws. The Speed Demon Xt is compatible with the Speed Demon Power T swivel, the SwivelTek ATX and LTX swivel, the Deville 13 Swivel, and most other swivels that fit within a 3 inch square.  For larger base swivels, an adapter kit is included.

5. Will it work with my speed bag?

The Speed Demon Xt works best on medium or small speed bags. A band of calibration tape (included) will need to be applied at the upper neck region of your bag to help the Speed Demon Xt see your bag.

6. How is it installed?

It mounts underneath your platform using three small screws. If you decide to remove the Speed Demon Xt later, the hole placement will not interfere with your speed bag.

7. How fast people can hit their bag?

Most amateur users can consistently punch at 120 ppm (punches per minute) or higher, using a medium size bag, using the triplet style. More experienced users, using a smaller, professional bag and swivel, can achieve higher speeds, well over 250 ppm, particularly when using a fist-rolling style, where speeds over 500 ppm are common.  Be sure and check out the speed bag records section of this site.

8. How can I compare my performance with my friends?

The Challenge Mode is a good way to measure your skill because you have to hit the bag faster and faster as the level increases (and your arms get more fatigued!). Not only will it give you a great workout, it may even earn you bragging rights.

You can also gain Speed Endurance ratings by using SDXt iMetrics. Speed Endurance ratings are generated automatically when you workout using iMetrics.  They measure a combination of how long and how fast you have hit the bag.

9. How many punches will the Speed Demon Xt track?

The Speed Demon Xt will track up to 999,999 punches per session. After you reach one thousand punches, the display measures punches in the thousands, using the decimal point to help you determine how many punches you have thrown (e.g. 1.79 equals 1,790 punches).

10. What type of punching styles are recognized?

The Speed Demon Xt can distinguish between single striking (e.g. fist rolling), double striking (fists passing through), and triplet style (the basic rhythm) in real time.  The Speed Demon Xt can also distinguish between punches and rebounds, and SDXt iMetrics tracks both punches and rebounds.
